Some peeks at Hunter's room...

So not the greatest lighting...in this room..but what is new? The whole house is essentially like this. It is like living in a cave. Anyhoooo I thought I would show a few pics of Hunter's room....still in progress. I figured if I didn't do it now..would I ever? There is something buggin me in this room.....for me boy's rooms are not the easiest...especially when they get to an age when they have a "say so"....I mean Star Wars runs rampant in this room. The force is strong ladies....very strong. Sooo the paint color is new..it is Ralph Laurens crabapple....and as I suspected it is not showing well on my moniter. I painted his lamps a dark navy and got new shades at Goodywill for 2.99 a shade. I splurged on his bed...it is from Jc Penny and I am VERY happy with it. The three newer pieces are the bed, desk, and his dresser....they all match but are from different places...GO FIGURE. I wanted to add a bit of vintage in here...when he allowed me too. I put an antique card table behind his globes and we are using old cigar boxes...love the colors of them... to round up his small treasures. NOOO I am not supporting smoking or cigars...we are a nicotene free family. I found a little wooden holder of some sorts and painted it red and put his initial on there. I also got some of those glass canisiters that look old and painted the lids red. They hold his baseball cards and marbles. You can see a little of the frame I made into a burlap bulletin board. I am on the look out for some cool push pins. I also use a lot of those little metal pails for his legos........ahhh those glorious legos...my feet love them to bits. I bought some of those little numbers (used for addresses) at Bi-Mart and numbered 1-3 for some fun typography. Well hopefully I will share more soon...but don't hold your breath! XOXO, cherry

That is the exact same effect I am wanting for my boys room. A little vintage boy feel...love the stars. I want it to be coordinating but not themed. Love that.

It looks great...hope you will share more when it is finished. I have never done a themed room for my son, I prefer a room that will stand the test of time. Love the red walls, a boys room is the perfect place for a strong color!

You have a Hunter and I have a Fisher!! How funny!! Maybe?? Just a little bit??
Anyhow...Lovin' his room!! My boys' room, when I get started on it, will be in a bit of a cabin fever theme. A little bit vintage in there maybe. I have ideas in my head, just need to take the time to do.
As usual, you are THE WOMAN!!

Are you a designer/decorator by trade? You have the best ideas and touches to your decorating. You make it all look so easy and effortless, and it always inspires me. I like how you used those big jars and painted the lids. I like the stars on the wall and the game board placed on the shelf. Love the see the finished room and lots of other rooms that show your decorating style.

It's looking really cute. My boys are 17 and 19. We've gone through every stage now...tractors, Star Wars, Winnie the Pooh, Americana, Boy Scouts, you name it! Now it's just a teenage mish mash of wires, computers, stereos, etc. :)

Believe me I know boys rooms can be tough, I have three of them, I don't think I've ever truly finished decorating them, I painted Jakes rm a couple of monthe ago red and beige but havent gotten around to putting up the trim yet. You did an awesome job . They never keep their rms the way I like it so it seems I never get them done.

It is all wonderful (ok--Yoda has always scared me a little), but I love the rest of it!

Oh it's wonderful!!! Great job! Kind of the "feel" I am looking for my kids' room but it's my son and daughter sharing so it can't be too boyish.

ahhh, you crack me up. My boys have star wars and legos running rampant in their room as well. What is it about that movie series? (And about small plastic blocks that put holes in your feet, for that matter.) LOL!

I enjoyed this post. My boys are eight and nine years old and their room is decorated very similar to your sons. However, they tend to have toys every where at all times. They even have the exact jar filled with marbles.

I loooove how you've decorated Hunter's space. If we have a baby boy one day, that's the sort of feel that I want in his nursery. Love the Americana colors.

Indeed, boys' rooms are hard to work with! Your best bet is just to make it look neat, and make the most out of what is there. Don't expect them to want to do dramatic changes, especially if you're the one suggesting it to them.

Ohhhh, Bi-Mart! I haven't heard that store name in forever. Back in the 80's we lived in Eugene while my husband was in Grad School. We loved our three years there! We even brought home a souvenir...daughter no.1 What a beautiful place the Northwest is!
Oh, and LOVED these pix of Hunter's room. Awesome.

Love it! The force runs very strong in our family too! As well as Legos. I hadn't even seen the movie until I met my husband! My 10 year old has an Empire Strikes back pillow case that belonged to my husband! That's how strong the force is... Thanks for visiting my site, I will definately be coming back to yours, it's all so awesome and inspirational! Love it all!!

What fabulous "boy" storage ideas you had! Love those old globes. You are just so clever. I agree that boys rooms are difficult, especially as they get older. I look forward to seeing the entire room. laurie

So glad you shared peek of your son's room. Love what you have done. My son's rooms has plenty of Star Wars stuff too. Lately he has been into putting posters on his wall. Ack! I can hardly handle it.

Crabapple is one of my favorite colors! It looks great, love the peeks. I need some boys room inspiration for my own little guys room. We won't be working on it until fall but I'm already planning. Why is it that their rooms are so difficult? I had no trouble at all deciding on my girls' rooms!

Hi Sweet Cherry - I've just gotten back from Florida and I had to pop in and see what you've been up to - all things gorgeous I see!!! I was glad to get a sneak peek at Hunters room - I've been waiting for this. See my lil' boy is 6 and he wants a "Star Wars" room and I'm doing my "darndest" to persuade him otherwise. Not that I don't want him to have what he wants - just not Yoda overkill - hehe. So any tips are helpful. As usual - your home is lovely - love all your 4th of July goodies - so festive. It's good to be home! Blessings, Cathy
